Is it possible to capture a single still image of the screen? If not, that with screen markup would be a nice feature.1 vote
Yes, Pro Recorder has a screen shot option:
If I'm recording a YouTube video and want to frame out the YouTube controls, your panel covers the YouTube movie start button. They just happen to fall on top of each other. If I could move your panel, maybe center it or right-adjust it, that would never happen. Thanks!1 vote
You can move the recording controls to the top of the frame. Click the “Preferences…” button before you start recording to change.
After saving the video, if the video is less than a minute can it be in seconds, like 0:50 sec. But now it displays as 0:50 min1 vote
Ok. We’ve made this change.
It would be great if there were a fade to black/fade in from black transition. For now I use a workaround where I record a plain black screen, insert that and then fade in out from the insert.
Is there already a way to do this that I am just missing?
By default the canvas under the screen video is black so you can seek to the very end or very start then add a Fade transition and it will do what you want.
Add a way to import other people's video's into our collection to use, edit, and move into channels6 votes
You can do this with Team Pro Hosting.
I've seen the existing ideas that ask for exporting the scripts, and I agree with them, but an alternative that would work for me is to show the full script section on screen (instead of having it trailing off) - if I could resize that box, or if it could scroll, then I could see enough to know what's coming. As it is, even though I just recorded the audio, I'm still guess as to what's coming, and my video doesn't look natural. Being able to export the script (so I can print it), or being able to actually see the full section on screen is really important to be able to effectively use scripting! Thank you.

You can now export text from a script if you update to the latest version of the app. Here’s a tutorial showing how it works: http://help.screencast-o-matic.com/v2-script-text-import-export
Some microphones have no physical switch (ie. built in mics in laptops), it would be good to have an option to temporarily switch off microphone recording (ie. to receive a phone call or talk to your neighbour) and then switch it on again. At the moment the only way to do that is temporarily pause the recording, switch mic off and then continue the recording.5 votes
You can use the Volume edit tool to silence the Narration in a section of the recording.
If in the scripting function, we could upload mp3s to the scripts for which we would then record video, that would be helpful. I am in the situation where I am making videos whose not all of the audio is being recorded in-house.72 votes
We pushed a new update (v2.2.12) so you can now import audio for script sections either individually or for the entire script as shown in this tutorial: http://help.screencast-o-matic.com/v2-scripted-import-audio
When recording, it would be awesome to record the computer audio and microphone separately so the audio tracks can be edited (clipped, volume adjusted) independently. Its difficult to balance the audio sources before recording and not possible to move the microphone narration separate from the computer audio.7 votes
I want to be able to work from more than one computer. Currently the work I do in one screen cast does not appear when I open the browser on my other computers. This is a big problem for me!10 votes
With the new secure backup feature, you can easily store recordings online and access them on any machine. This will allow you to move seamlessly between computers. This is included as part of every Solo Premier Plan.
You can learn more about the secure backup here:

The majority of people don't want giant yellow mouse circles in their videos. This needs to be an option you turn ON, you shouldn't have to turn it off!2 votes
In v2.0 you can remove with the editing options in the Pro Recorder:
I want to sign up for a Pro Account but I prefer to use PayPal. I hope this is an option in the future.2 votes
We offer paypal option for subscriptions.
I do not wish for any of my videos to be searchable so it would be nice to have a universal setting to disable this once instead of disabling per uploaded video.1 vote
The app should remember what Searchable setting you used last time so it will re-use that each time you make an upload
Like if your card doesn't go through it works on PayPal because when I type in the card number exact same as PayPal number it says wrong so I want to be able to pay with paypal1 vote

After making a scripted recording in your awesome v2.0.0 beta62 pro version, I would like to see a way to have some sections of my recording show the mouse cursor and some not. As far as I can tell, there's only a global setting for the entire video. It would be nice to have this as an effect like overlays and transitions, for showing the mouse or hiding the mouse on certain sections of the recording.3 votes
Sure, you can use the Hide Mouse tool:
To automatically stop recording after a set period of time.1 vote
This is already an option for the Pro recorder. Click on the Max Time in the settings menu to choose a max time.
There seems to be no way to do this in version 2.0 which makes the app fairly useless to me since I use a tabet pen to annotate. Who wants to looks at blinking blue circles everytime a letter is formed? The yellow cursor highlight seems fine because I want to point at things in my screencasts, but the blue hightlight is ridiculously distracting.1 vote
This is an option with the Pro editing on v2:
I Usually go to the site to start recording, but There should be an Application on your Desktop that has the Screen-O-Matic Logo on it.
It wouldbe so much easier!3 votes

Hi. I have a small SSD which runs the OS; Windows 7 and all my programmes. I also have other hard drives which contain all my other files such as media and games. By default, screencastomatic records to my C: drive (SSD) which quickly fills up whilst recording. Once I have finished recording I know how to publish the video file to another drive, however can I change the default recording path to avoid my SSD getting filed up? (I have a pro account)1 vote
You can change the folder that the recorder uses from the main app window by clicking on the folder icon in the very upper left corner.
