Sorry to see there is no Linux support. Moving to Mint this summer because of discontinued Microsoft support. Guess I will have to cancel Screencast-O-matic too. Sad, because I really like it for building tutorial videos. Please fix this, SOM. Soon!

Here's the response I got from ScreenCastOMatic when I asked about Linux...

    "Hello,
Thanks for contacting us. Unfortunately, there aren't currently any plans to add a Linux version of the Recorder app.
    -Sam"

So I guess there's no point in asking about it any longer.

It seems like a pretty brain-dead simple decision. Take a look at the screen recording software available for linux and it's clear that there is a HUGE HOLE in this space. The first quality solution here will be very successful I think.

I found that SOM has a way to add your vote for Linux support to a list of some sort.

To do so, go to the support page (https://support.screencast-o-matic.com/hc/en-us) and click [Contact Us] at the top of the page. Type "Linux Support?" in the message box and click [Next]. Scroll down until you see the "Linux" idea and click on it. Then click on the [I Want This] button.

Currently there are 119 people who have done this.

Please support Linux. Our CS department labs are Linux, and it would be very beneficial to create tutorial videos for our students that can't quite be emulated by X11 forwarding through tools like MobaXterm at this point.

Boo for no linux support. I've left windows and then mac for chromebook and a dell ubuntu laptop. Its a shame SOM doesn't run on linux

I am missing ScreencastOMatic a lot on linux. I am a paid user of ScreencastOMatic and really want to use it on Ubuntu linux. Please add Linux support

I have tried "wine" it doesn't work, I pay you every year for this wonderful program. Why oh why can you not answer even one of these comment/posts? For now I keep a separate hard drive with spyware(windows) just to use SOM, but it is really starting to gripe my goat!

The thing that makes me the most upset, is you folks take our $$$ and don't have the common decency to answer us back..

Folks, like so many here, we're very much in need of a Linux version of SOM. 237 votes for this simple "Please support Linux" request. These are paid subscribers looking to be served, and in many cases folk who actually took out their subscription when Linux was, in fact, supported.

How soon can this be rectified? Thank you in advance for your response.

+1, originally bought this because it supported Linux. With my renewal coming up, sadly I am looking for another option.

Am I the only one that sees the irony in not supporting Linux considering the server that runs this web service is a Linux machine.

Pro user also that is running Ubuntu waiting and using what I can for the time being.
