If I'm recording a YouTube video and want to frame out the YouTube controls, your panel covers the YouTube movie start button. They just happen to fall on top of each other. If I could move your panel, maybe center it or right-adjust it, that would never happen. Thanks!1 vote
You can move the recording controls to the top of the frame. Click the “Preferences…” button before you start recording to change.
Paypal allows safe and secure transactions while also offering an alternative method of payment (aside from any credit or debit card) due to having an extra merchant account, whether it's business or personal. This also helps with most international buyers, as international credit cards have many restrictions and Paypal usually pays the conversion costs from the client (foreign) instead of the merchant (ScreencastOMatic).17 votes
We offer paypal option for subscriptions.
It would be great if there were a fade to black/fade in from black transition. For now I use a workaround where I record a plain black screen, insert that and then fade in out from the insert.
Is there already a way to do this that I am just missing?
By default the canvas under the screen video is black so you can seek to the very end or very start then add a Fade transition and it will do what you want.
I would love to see the option to upload a video straight to Vimeo in the same way that you can upload to YouTube.28 votes

Not every recording required video throughout its duration, for example, I would like to use the webcam at the introduction and conclusion stages of the screencast and not in the body (middle). I cannot manipulate the webcam once it is turned on! WHY?11 votes
Do you have anything like this?
mbed your recorder
Add the recorder to your support site by copying and pasting provided HTML code. Your customers can now record a screencast of their problems by clicking the Launch Screen Recorder button. It’s that easy.7 votes
Yes we have a Pro Hosting Recorder API which you can use for this: http://screencast-o-matic.com/goprohosting
We now provide this as part of the Premium Hosting option.
For more info see this video: http://som.screencasthost.com/intro-to-premium-hosting
After making a scripted recording in your awesome v2.0.0 beta62 pro version, I would like to see a way to have some sections of my recording show the mouse cursor and some not. As far as I can tell, there's only a global setting for the entire video. It would be nice to have this as an effect like overlays and transitions, for showing the mouse or hiding the mouse on certain sections of the recording.3 votes
Sure, you can use the Hide Mouse tool:
To automatically stop recording after a set period of time.1 vote
This is already an option for the Pro recorder. Click on the Max Time in the settings menu to choose a max time.
I Usually go to the site to start recording, but There should be an Application on your Desktop that has the Screen-O-Matic Logo on it.
It wouldbe so much easier!3 votes
Sure, we have desktop install:
NPAPI no longer supported by Chrome: https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/62130331 vote
The new v2.0 recorder doesn’t require java to launch so you can use it in Chrome:
The recorder will first try using java to see if its working which might bring up a prompt saying that its not suppported but after that fails it will offer a download for the launcher which is the new way to launch without requiring java (NPAPI).
It appears that you removed the microphone volume control in v2.0. True? If so, that's too bad. It's a really nice feature.1 vote
v2 has the same mic control. Instead of having a separate button, you see it automatically when you choose a mic to use.
I would like the option to change the yellow circle around the mouse to a different color.1 vote
You can do this with the Pro features in v2.0:
so far when i add music, it just drops off at the end of the video abruptly. the next feature that is a must is to be able to fade the music out at the end of the video so it feels better than just an abrupt drop off.3 votes
The latest version of the v2.0 recorder has this option. Make sure you are using the latest by clicking the “?” in the upper right corner of the app window.
You can see more about the audio options in this tutorial: http://som.screencasthost.com/v2-edit-audio
Hi, Not sure if you're aware but when I allow google access to my youtube account I get a message saying "OAuth1" will no longer be supported in April. Will we still be able to post to YouTube after that?
The new v2.0 of the app uses the new OAuth for YouTube and Google Drive: http://www.screencast-o-matic.com/v2
For us professional web presenters your product is AWESOME! (Just bought pro today.) Problem is we need the primary monitor NOT visible to the audience so we can toggle between applications and programs when we're presenting. Please, Please, Please move this capability up the development list! Thanks.144 votes
New v2 beta out today lets you drag the recorder to any monitor: http://www.screencast-o-matic.com/v2
I used to old v2 (I think) recorder for my gaming! It was great cuz I could simply turn OFF the mouse circle and little clicking icons. I have just downloaded the new version (BTW great design) And I can't seem to find a option to turn them off? I am soon going to buy the premium version will that feature be in the premium version? PLEASE ANSWER!3 votes
Modifying the cursor highlighting requires the editing tools in v2.0:
That's a link that you will want to read in order to keep the "publish to YouTube" feature viable. Just a heads up in case no one else has brought this to your attention.1 vote
The new auth is already integrated with v2.0 recorder which you can launch from the website: http://www.screencast-o-matic.com/screen_recorder
It would be nice to have the option to hide the halo/cursor on v2.0.5 votes
You can hide the cursor halo if you have a Pro account. You click on Edit then you should see a Cursor option in the right column.
