would love the ability to pull in recordings from my iphone and edit them and use them with screencast footage.1 vote
You can import MP4 video from other sources to edit.
When editing som video before exporting, I would like to add outside video in avi format.3 votes
You can now use the Insert Video option to insert MP4 video (but not AVI)
It would be nice if we could delete any edit we've made, not just the latest one we performed. Thanks11 votes
You can do this in v2.0
service is incredible! but u need to redisign your site1 vote
New Site release Nov 2015
See image for further details:
The interface was completely redesigned for version 2.0. Please see this video: http://help.screencast-o-matic.com/channels/coQnrrQLZ#details-play-coQnrwf58U
I seen this feature on a youtube tutorial and thought it could be a cool feature. Its at 9 minutes into the tutorial and the bit I am talking about is at 9.06 minutes.
Basically rather then zooming into an area, what it seems to do is use a frame as a background image and then pop up a cutout of a smaller area that is being worked on.1 vote
This is an option with the Highlight overlay in v2.0 editing tools: http://som.screencasthost.com/v2-tools-overlay-highlight
I find that the recorded volume on many of the videos I record is too low. If you could add the ability to increase or decrease the volume in the editing section of the video that would be awesome!5 votes
You can use the new Volume tool in v2.0 or bring the levels up for the entire video as shown in this tutorial:
I find SOM a wonderful tool and we recommend it to our customers to record their PC based problems they are experiencing with our products and software and then upload the video. This has a few issues - one is that customers have to send us the file, which can often be too large to send over email (nor do we like getting them send to our CRM system mail address.) The second issue is that if they don't email them, they have to post them and we don't want our customers content posted publicly to the internet, nor do we want our name (for SEO reason) posted to youtube videos with "problems".
So, a good solution (and we'd pay more for this function) would be for us to be able to send the user directly to a personalize URL, where they would be allowed to record a screencast and when complete, instead of uploading to one of their accounts (or saving locally), they would enter their email address and any other details (such as a CRM ticket number for reference) and then an email would be generated from SOM, back to our email address indicating that a customer had posted a support video for us to review.
This way the video is always posted privately (the website should likely mention that), the customer doesn't have to figure out how to get the video to us or sign up for something they don't want to and we have notification when the problem is posted.

This is supported with our Team Pro Hosting option.
Instead of adding noise to silent sections, I'd rather have Screencast-O-Matic filter noise from the recording. Right now I use Audacity to perform that step, but it would be a lot more convenient if Screencast-O-Matic did that for me.6 votes
The v2.0 of the recorder has remove noise option which is enabled by default: http://som.screencasthost.com/v2-edit-audio
I went here:
and saw this: "Java Plugin Needed"
Most sane developers disable Java. Especially Mac developers (after a recent attack on an iOS dev site). Please use an alternative. Otherwise, it's a great idea. Thanks!15 votes
The link referred to is an older upload. All new uploads hosted on our site playback with html5 or flash.

Due to updates in Firefox I can no longer embed a screencast-o-matic video on our college VLE (which is a https site).
You tube and Slideshare now provide embed code suitable for https. Please follow suit Screencast o matic.7 votes
The embed code now works with http or https pages
I created a 45 minute instructional video and wanted users to be able to jump to the section of interest to them so inserted a screenshot with timelines, but would love to be able to click and go to that point in the video. I'm a new users, so maybe this is already an option, but I didn't see it.4 votes
This is something you can do by adding notes in your uploaded recording on Screencast-O-Matic.com
It would be nice to have a check box to make embed codes use https and not just http. Newer version of browsers like Firefox Block this for mixed content on a web pages.11 votes

Paypal allows safe and secure transactions while also offering an alternative method of payment (aside from any credit or debit card) due to having an extra merchant account, whether it's business or personal. This also helps with most international buyers, as international credit cards have many restrictions and Paypal usually pays the conversion costs from the client (foreign) instead of the merchant (ScreencastOMatic).17 votes
We offer paypal option for subscriptions.
We are planning on multiple users creating videos through the Propage. However, if two users were recording screencasts for 1 channel on separate computers they are unable to submit videos to the channel together. You should make the admin account associated with propage be able create global channels that propage users can choose to upload the videos to.2 votes
You can do this with Team Pro Hosting.
I would like to be able to make an URL friendly url for my channel(s)!6 votes
You can now create custom links for channels.
It would be really awesome if there were a way to import mp4 video to be included into a SOM. Also, I would like an easier way of importing music that can be placed at a lower volume with my narration. I love screencast and would love to see these things added to make my videos better.8 votes
You can import mp4 now.
After recording many videos, they start to stack up in the Recordings section of the program, if I could create playlists or folders to organize them, that would help me to keep track of all of the videos.1 vote
You can do this by creating different “Locations” to store your videos:
At least a cut off timer1 vote
we have a cut off timer for the pro version of the recorder: http://som.screencasthost.com/watch/cInTqcVoh1
