I've seen the existing ideas that ask for exporting the scripts, and I agree with them, but an alternative that would work for me is to show the full script section on screen (instead of having it trailing off) - if I could resize that box, or if it could scroll, then I could see enough to know what's coming. As it is, even though I just recorded the audio, I'm still guess as to what's coming, and my video doesn't look natural. Being able to export the script (so I can print it), or being able to actually see the full section on screen is really important to be able to effectively use scripting! Thank you.

You can now export text from a script if you update to the latest version of the app. Here’s a tutorial showing how it works: http://help.screencast-o-matic.com/v2-script-text-import-export
After recording with a script file it could be good to be able to convert it to a captions file.
This way it wouldn't have to be re-entered when we want to have additional captions16 votes
You can now export script to captions in new update. Here’s a tutorial: http://help.screencast-o-matic.com/v2-script-text-import-export
If this is not already a feature...
Hi. I have a small SSD which runs the OS; Windows 7 and all my programmes. I also have other hard drives which contain all my other files such as media and games. By default, screencastomatic records to my C: drive (SSD) which quickly fills up whilst recording. Once I have finished recording I know how to publish the video file to another drive, however can I change the default recording path to avoid my SSD getting filed up? (I have a pro account)1 vote
You can change the folder that the recorder uses from the main app window by clicking on the folder icon in the very upper left corner.
I'm recording and there is an hissy noise in the background. it would have been cool if there was a feature to remove that background ambient noise. It ruins my entire recording and it is irritating to my audience. Thanks1 vote
Noise Reduction is added in v2.0: http://som.screencasthost.com/v2-edit-audio
Fix the problem that prevents videos from being uploaded to YouTube. I continue to receive an error: upload is unauthorized.
Fix the bug1 vote
Google has discontinued the API used in the v1.0.
The new v2.0 of the recorder has updates to upload to new YouTube and Google Drive API:
I'd love to see Box as a location to save files. At Box, many of us use SOM daily, and end up having to save local copies. We'd be happy to get you in touch with our platform team to scope and build this! The APIs are located at http://developers.box.com/docs/#tokens-token-object60 votes
With the Pro features you can now directly upload to your box.com account:
Hey. How about you remove the yellow ring and the ring that comes up when you click? Or at least put an option to do so. Would help me greatly! Thanks!1 vote
See this tutorial:
The next YouTube video shows how to hold text when the background is moving.
I use this very when creating flight movies:
Great. Thanks for sharing your tutorial.
I see how to post links to individual my individual channels, but how do I share a link to all my videos? Is that a pro feature?1 vote
You can create a home page with you channels listed using the Pro Hosting:
Here’s an intro video that describes features for Pro Hosting: http://som.screencasthost.com/intro-to-pro-hosting
when I embed a video in a page that is transfered via https, users (at least for IE) get an error message.
Would great, if I could embed them as https also.
Youtube has this option. But I don't want to upload the videos there because the quality is much lower.

The embed code now works with http or https pages
There seems to be no way to do this in version 2.0 which makes the app fairly useless to me since I use a tabet pen to annotate. Who wants to looks at blinking blue circles everytime a letter is formed? The yellow cursor highlight seems fine because I want to point at things in my screencasts, but the blue hightlight is ridiculously distracting.1 vote
This is an option with the Pro editing on v2:
I think that screencast-o-matic should have commands on the keyboard that can be used any time. For example:

Screencast-O-Matic already has a way to set global hot keys to start a recording for example on windows: http://screencast-o-matic.com/watch/cletbtgyR
While you are in the recorder you can use the hotkey ALT+P to pause and ALT+D to be done.
Recorder 2.0 doesn't offer the option to save as gif1 vote
v2.0 can create GIF video. If you have a Pro account then you can click on the option to “Save As Video File” then click the “Type” option to select GIF
I think it's nice that you can add background music to your narrated video. However, one feature that I've noticed other software has that SOM does not, is the ability to change the secondary (music) audio levels throughout the video. If I'm narrating something, I may want the music to fade in the beginning and fade out at the end while I'm still talking. And not even so much a "fade" feature, but actually being able to manipulate the levels at different points in the timeline. Just a thought.1 vote
Hi Chris, We have a “ducking” feature to reduce volume in the music track while you are talking in the narration which you can learn more about here: http://som.screencasthost.com/v2-edit-audio
I created a 45 minute instructional video and wanted users to be able to jump to the section of interest to them so inserted a screenshot with timelines, but would love to be able to click and go to that point in the video. I'm a new users, so maybe this is already an option, but I didn't see it.4 votes
This is something you can do by adding notes in your uploaded recording on Screencast-O-Matic.com
I'm not sure what to make of the 3, 2, 1 countdown when pressing record after having paused recording. If that delay is due to hardware or sofware limitations then fine but if it's just programmed in please remove the countdown and just resume recording ASAP. Thanks.1 vote
You can do this with the new settings options for Pro users: http://www.screencast-o-matic.com/watch/cl1urbJiI
It would be nice if we could delete any edit we've made, not just the latest one we performed. Thanks11 votes
You can do this in v2.0
I find SOM a wonderful tool and we recommend it to our customers to record their PC based problems they are experiencing with our products and software and then upload the video. This has a few issues - one is that customers have to send us the file, which can often be too large to send over email (nor do we like getting them send to our CRM system mail address.) The second issue is that if they don't email them, they have to post them and we don't want our customers content posted publicly to the internet, nor do we want our name (for SEO reason) posted to youtube videos with "problems".
So, a good solution (and we'd pay more for this function) would be for us to be able to send the user directly to a personalize URL, where they would be allowed to record a screencast and when complete, instead of uploading to one of their accounts (or saving locally), they would enter their email address and any other details (such as a CRM ticket number for reference) and then an email would be generated from SOM, back to our email address indicating that a customer had posted a support video for us to review.
This way the video is always posted privately (the website should likely mention that), the customer doesn't have to figure out how to get the video to us or sign up for something they don't want to and we have notification when the problem is posted.

This is supported with our Team Pro Hosting option.
If at all possible, giving the closed caption option would be nice. Sometimes it helps to read it and sometimes it is just nice if the volume isn't working on the computer.2 votes
We have closed captioning in the hosted screencasts.
In previous versions, free users could take away the halo around the cursor, but recently in 2.0 that feature has been removed8 votes
You can choose to show cursor highlighting or to turn it off in the free version as well.
